We are excited and proud to announce that the NRA flagship youth dance company, EVOLVE, were the overall winners in the London heat of the DANCE; MAKE YOUR MOVE 2013 competition at the weekend. EVOLVE were also awarded the SILVER fund-raising award for raising £260 for the organisers, BRITISH RED CROSS, as well as a special commendation for ‘Outstanding use of Dance Theatre’. The group were competing against other youth companies from across London and were judged by GOT TO DANCE finalists, Kane Ricca and Emile Ruddock who were ‘blown away’ by Evolve’s piece ‘HOME’, which portrays the themes surrounding refugees in current areas of conflict across the world.
Evolve, the only Essex group competing at the event, will now go on to compete against the other heat winners from the South East this weekend at The Greenwood Theatre in London to fight for a chance to perform in the national final at the INDIGO2 theatre/O2 complex in July.
I cannot describe to you the elation I felt when Evolve danced on Saturday night in London. They did the academy, the local community and the region proud and each of them should also be so proud of this fantastic achievement, Mrs Warnock, Head of Dance.
