As part of their BTEC studies, I took a group of our talented dancers to London to experience professional life as a performer and to see the brand new and critically acclaimed show, THE CURIOUS INCI-DENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT TIME, at the Apollo Theatre. The day kicked off with a walk around Covent Garden and a brief tour of the covered markets. We then visited the world famous PINEAPPLE DANCE STU-DIOS for a professional dance class with well-known American performer and choreographer, Melody Squire- no sign of Louie Spence though! After this we watched Street performers outside the Royal Opera House before heading up Shaftesbury Avenue for the show. I really wanted to give this group a memorable west end experience, and as a former patron of Pineap-ple Dance Studios myself, I thought it would be a great opportunity for these students (many of whom are go-ing on to study dance at vocational / university level) to enjoy a fast paced dance class and immerse themselves in the buzz and excitement of 'Theatreland' for a day'.
