Over the weekend of Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th June, 27 students and 3 members of staff participated in the Life Choice Baby Hire Programme and tended to the needs of their very own virtual baby for the entire weekend.
The babies were programmed to start at 5 p.m. on Friday 17th and switch off at 11 p.m. on Sunday 19th and they behaved in exactly the same way as real babies.
There were various learning objectives for this exercise involving parenting skills, body image, being a teenage parent, looking after babies, peer pressure and self-esteem.
The students and staff did really well and the Life Choice representative was particularly impressed as this was the first time we had run the scheme.
The highest scoring student was Tristan Massey with 98%, closely followed by Abby Wood with 96%.
This was a demanding project and a very high percentage of our students took it very seriously and provided exceptional care to the babies. Well done to all who took part.
