Advocate Team

GETTING TO KNOW  …   THE ADVOCATE TEAM

At New Rickstones Academy, we work hard to ensure that ALL students maximise their learning time.  We have four trained Advocates who tour the Academy, primarily supporting students to be happy and learning in their lessons, but also to support the staff.

We have recently gained the Inclusion Quality Mark and the Lead Inspector commented on the ‘excellent support given to students by the team of Advocates’.

The role of the Advocates is:

• To have a presence around the Academy at all times from  8.15 a.m. until the end of the school day
• To observe the students’ behaviour around the Academy and to deal with any issues that affect the teaching and learning of the students
• To act as the first response to staff requests for lesson support
• To be a friendly face for the students and for students to know that Advocates are always there for them
• To mentor students when required
• To deal with pastoral and friendships issues.
